A man by name Ifechukwu who hailed from Orlu, Imo State was captured by the villagers in a small village in Nnewi called Egbu, while trying to kidnap an eight year old boy who was sent home from school.
The boy who was dismissed from school due to government decree that school should be shut down due to corona virus pandemic and was headed home alone when the incident.
The small boy by name Chidera is said to be on his way home when Ifechukwu lured him with an Egg roll, the boy accepted and took the biscuit.
He held the boy's hand and was trying to run away from the scene with the boy when a tailor by name Mr Okwubuike, Whose shop is very close to the small boy's house recognized him in the company of Ifechukwu .
The tailor Queried Ifechukwu on who he was and where he was taken him to, and Ifechukwu claimed he was a friend of the family and was walking him home.
The tailor became suspicious as the direction Ifechukwu headed was not the small boy's house but rather the direction he was facing was the road that led out of the village.
He quickly grabbed onto Ifechukwu and raised alarm while the villagers gathered around and questioned him.
He couldn't defend himself and confessed he was about taking the boy with him to Imo State when Mr Okwubuike caught him.He was undressed and tied to a pole,he was beaten mercilessly while being questioned on what he intended to use the boy for.
He said he didn't know that he was just contracted to bring a small boy for one Madame Perpetual, who owns a food bar and restaurant in the suburb of Orlu, Imo State.
The villagers alerted Anambra Police force who arrived the scene and carried him away.
Chidera's mother later came to the scene and was reunited with her son.
ADVICE: Please do not send your child to an errand alone or walk around alone. Please always be vigilant as alot of bad people are hovering around, looking for children to kidnap.
